In July 2026, I took part in an international scientific program focusing on chest wall surgery in Guangzhou, China. During this visit, while sharing the Ribella procedure I developed with colleagues, I also had the opportunity to learn directly the surgical techniques developed by Dr. Wenlin Wang at his center.
Sharing the Ribella experience with colleagues
Chest wall surgery is a field that requires different approaches for different deformities. Sharing my approach to the Ribella procedure at the program in Guangzhou allowed me to compare it with the clinical experience of other centers.

Learning the Wang, Wung, Wenlin and Willine techniques on site
In the other part of my visit, I learned the Wang, Wung, Wenlin and Willine procedures directly from Dr. Wenlin Wang at his center. Seeing on site how the surgeon who developed a technique evaluates patient selection and operative planning was valuable for understanding the clinical counterpart of what is described in publications.
These four names refer to different approaches. So that our patients can get to know the methods, we have prepared a separate treatment page for each. On these pages you can find the basic principles of the methods, their relationship with other treatments and the evaluation process.
Determining the right method for the patient
At Dr. Pectus Clinic, we consider the options together, from non-surgical treatments to different surgical approaches. I weigh the knowledge I gained in Guangzhou together with my existing chest wall surgery experience, and I share with my patients the reason for the method I recommend and the change we aim to achieve.
